I started my life under, in and around trees at Newton Rigg College in Cumbria, with the influence of the great teaching staff the college had at that time. Mickey Whinn’s incredible passion for trees and the skill of hands on technicians like Dave Meredith, being a great influence, teaching me how to climb and run a saw in the woods. From there, I have built up 20 years of industry experience as a free lance climber, working for small tree companies and as a local government grounds supervisor running several contracts along with the tree gang. In 2003 I moved to Norfolk setting up Tree Logic and becoming a part time trainer and assessor, while climbing for a local AA Arb Approved Contractor. In 2011, I established my own tree business T&A Tree and Garden Services with my partner Tamara where we undertake both residential and commercial work including Tree Surveys.

During my career I have been involved with a lot of interesting projects and industry membership organisations, allowing me travel around the world and widen my knowledge.  I have had a long involvement with ISA Tree Climbing Championships, competing in the UK, organising the UK&I events as well as judging and helping run comps around the world.  I was the President of the ISA UK&I Chapter and helped bring the ISA membership under the management of the AA, creating a strong industry organisation to better serve the industry.  I have been apart of the HSE AFAG board and assisted in the updating of industry best practice, I have work for LANTRA sector skills to review update and re wright the industry National Occupational Standers. Over the last few years I have been working with the AA on a small steering group to layout a new set of best practice guides covering climbing, rescue, working in the tree, rigging, MEWPs and crane work.

Now in 2021, Tree Logic is growing further and reaching more and more people. Along with our team of supporting Trainers, Assessors and Technicians we have the knowledge and skills to share.
